Principal Message

Lake Louise Principal Travis Holmgren

Good Afternoon Families,

Virtual learning continues for nearly all students at Lake Louise as teachers and staff work hard to enhance the online learning experience! Activities are varied and designed to engage students in a number of ways that promote thinking and learning. Instruction extends beyond the traditional subjects of math, reading, science and social studies as teachers are working hard to support the social emotional well-being of our students. The overall well-being of your student is a top priority and our Family Engagement Team is in place to assist students and families who may need extra support. Please feel free to contact me, your student’s teacher or refer to the “Return to Learning” resources section on the Lake Louise webpage for more information. The Clover Park School District is currently in stages Two and Three of our Six Stages of Return to Learning Plan which calls for bringing small groups of vulnerable students back into school for in-person learning using health department guidance and with safety measures for students and staff safety firmly in place.

At Lake Louise we like to celebrate student success and this fall we will honor students with “Cybercat” awards for students who are doing an outstanding job learning in a virtual environment! Cybercat awards will be based on a criteria where students follow the three “R’s” at Lake Louise: being respectful, responsible and ready to learn. Also, our normal “Gotcha’s” are extending to the online world with these teacher awards for students who are caught doing something nice or working hard. As a part of the online learning experience, the asynchronous or not live part of the school day is also critical for student learning and success. Please be sure to review your students daily and weekly schedule to be aware of what is expected outside of the regular AM or PM schedule with their teacher and what is expected for independent work. The two main district apps for independent work are Freckle and Zearn. Freckle is the online reading / language arts program for students, while Zearn is the math app. It is our goal that students will access and use these programs daily to help enhance their learning experience and make additional growth! Please be sure to help your student get online and support them outside the online portion of the day with their teacher.

Thank you for working closely with us here at Lake Louise as we continue this educational partnership in 2020/21!

Principal
